Using tags

Post by edgonz »

This may be a question for VMware, but I wanted to try here first.
Does anyone know where tags are saved in VMware and how to restore them, or is this even possible?

Thanks!

Tags aren't stored in the vCenter database, but rather as part of the Inventory Service which uses X-Hive/DB database:

Database files are located here:

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Inventory Service\data
You can recover the entire database using file-level recovery from vCenter Server backup.

Thanks!

The same thing could be done if using the vCenter Server Appliance instead of vCenter on Windows, couldn't it? In that case, it looks like those database files live somewhere in here.

Code: Select all

/usr/lib/vmware-invsvc
