Using Veeam backup to copy a Windows 2000 server
Since Windows 2000 does not have a shadow copy writer service if I use Veeam backup to copy a running Windows 2000 server what should I use settings wise? The vmware tools quiescence? Or can I just run the backup without using either. What's the recommended procedure for this. Thanks for all your help!

Yes, you should use the default settings (VMware Tools quiescence enabled) unless you are running Microsoft SQL. Microsoft SQL does not really "like" the way VMware Tools quiescence and gets corrupted.

Re: Using Veeam backup to copy a Windows 2000 server
What settings would I use for a VM that is running Windows 2000 SP4 and SQL 7? If I use neither the vmware tools quiescence and do not have VSS writers to interface with can I still back up the running VM without hurting it?

Check out this thread, since we've just been discussing this topic couple of days ago with someone else.

Re: Using Veeam backup to copy a Windows 2000 server
Thanks for that. I'm ok with the image I make possibly not working. But what is the word on making one while the box is up and running with SQL on it? Will I damage my source or potentially damage my source in anyway?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yes, according to some reports I have seen, VMware Tools quiescence may damage source SQL.
