V12 - Target specific VMs for copies

Post by wizardict »

Is the ability to target specific VMs in a backup copy going to put back in to V12 at some point? How we target backups and how we organize copies is completely different, meaning any one backup job could have several copies associated with it targeting specific VMs. Having to work out which copies are effected and add an exclusion every time we add a new VM to the backup isn't realistic.

Also, is the ability to retain quarterly restore points coming back? This is something we use extensively for long term retention copies, but seems to now be missing even for Legacy Backup Copies.

Hi Mark

Q1:
Please see the comments in the following forum topic:
veeam-backup-replication-f2/from-infras ... 85444.html

Q2:
This functionality was already removed for backup/backup copy jobs in V11 if I remember correctly. There are no plans to bring it back. But we will add your feedback to the others. We got the request from time to time.

Best,

Thanks Fabian

Q2 isn't such a big issue, we can live without it it's more a nice to have. We've gone from V10 to V12, so it's possible it was removed in V11.

Q1 on the other hand is. If the situation is still the same in June when we review our software licensing we'll likely be looking to move to a different product purely because of that (I'm assuming copy from copy will be back by then, otherwise that would also be a factor).
