V5 import V6 VBK?
I would think not - but want to ask.
Can I import a VEEAM 6 .VBK into VEEAM 5 to restore?

I believe the answer is no, however you may want to try it.

You're correct. When I tried to import into V5 I get a message that says --- Incorrect version or something to that effect.

It does work the other way, but of course v5 is unaware of v6 backup format.

It would be nice to have a patch for v5/v4/etc..or something to support restore compatibility with previous versions.

Not quite sure what you're referring to, but to support restore capabilities you can either import v5/v4 backups to Veeam B&R v6 (but not vice versa) or use standalone extract.exe utility which was specifically designed for these purposes (not having backup console available).

You should not be running previous versions in the first place at this time. Also, why would you run both v4/v5 and v6 in the same environment? Does not make much sense.
