v7 R2 Cloud Edition
Can anyone confirm if the latest version of VBR Cloud Edition now copies block level changes of a backup file to the cloud or does it still look at the date stamp and transfer the whole file.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: v7 R2 Cloud Edition
Yes, this functionality was included in the latest Veeam B&R Cloud Edition v7 release as experimental, and currently can be used for backing up to the local storage and Amazon S3 only.
To enable block-level changes tracking, change the following value in the settings.list file to TRUE (the file is created in the C:\Users\All Users\Veeam Cloud Backup folder after the UI is closed for the first time):
After changing this value, the corresponding check box will be available at the Select Backup Mode step of the Create Backup Plan Wizard.

Code: Select all
<ShowBlockLevelBackup>true</ShowBlockLevelBackup>

It only makes sense to use this with the reversed incremental backup mode, otherwise this is not going to make any difference.
Also, you will need to enable DisableVBKRename behavior modifier via the corresponding registry key.

Is this still the case? Is there an ETA on when the cloud backup functionality will gain the ability to upload only changed blocks to the cloud (specifically Amazon S3/Glacier)?

Yes. We did not have any new releases since December anyway
But why are you asking? Do you have any problems with the above settings?

Re: v7 R2 Cloud Edition
I'm downloading a trial of Veeam Cloud edition now and starting up a trial of Amazon S3 as well. I was hoping that feature was no longer experimental.
Can you say if it is OK for production use?

Have not seen a single issue reported since it was released in 2013
