V8 backup copy seeding question

Post by KeithGriffith »

I inherited our v7 setup, so I wanted to do V8 as a clean install.
I will use the old proxies and wan accellerators, but I am going to rebuild the rest.

I have a portable drive in the corporate headquarters defined as a repository. I have run a backup of all of the newly built jobs to the portable, then set up backup copy job to run to the portable for seeding. After everything had already run, I realized that I had a problem. I now have a complete backup of everything I need and the incremental backup copy job on the same disk. When I get the seed disk back to the remote site, can I consolidate the backup and backup copy into a simple backup copy job for the corporate site?

You might want to create new backup job, map it to existing backup copy job, create new backup copy job, and select both old and newly-created backup jobs as its source. Thanks.

Keith, could you please elaborate on what you're trying to achieve, as I'm not getting why do you want to consolidate jobs?

[MERGED] Trying to get seed working

Post by KeithGriffith »

I had V7 running. Had replication issues, and decided to start fresh with V8.
I ran a backup job to a removable disk at the host site. I then ran a backup copy job to the same disk.
I drove the disk to the remote location and copied the files over. When I try to point the job at the new host repository, I get the following error:

"Move all backup files to the new repository first."

Help?

Have you rescanned the remote repository after copying files to it?
