v8 guest file system indexing
Hi everyone,
I'm not sure whether this is an error / technical issue or a misunderstanding of mine:
I have a backup job with a selection of several VMs.
I want to enable guest file system indexing only for one VM - Aas I did with v7.
When I select this VM and enable indexing for certain folders, and select "Disable indexing" for all other VMs, the backup only runs for the single VM.
For all other VMs I get the error "Unknown indexing mode 'None'".
Is this an error I should open a support case for, or is there a misconfiguration?
Thanks for your help.

Re: v8 guest file system indexing
If indexing is disabled for those VMs, backup server shouldn't try to index them and shouldn't fail, indeed. So, if I were you, I would open a support case. By the way, are those VM Windows or Linux machines? Thanks.

Hi Vladimir, thanks for you reply.
I opened a support case (00675399).
All VMs are windows machines.

Thank for providing the support ticket number. I've passed it, as well as, information regarding your problem to the QA team. They will take a look at it.

Re: v8 guest file system indexing
The issue has been confirmed and will be addressed in one of the next patches. For now, can you try to disable not only windows indexing, but also linux indexing for those VMs and see whether it helps? Thanks.

Re: v8 guest file system indexing
Yes, your workaround works However, support is still investigating.
It seems, that enabling windows indexing for all other VMs for a specific path without giving a path also works.
Thanks for your help.

Re: v8 guest file system indexing
As mentioned, QA team has confirmed this behaviour, and we will create a hotfix soon. For now you can use the said workaround. Thank you for drawing our attention; much appreciated.
