[RESOLVED] v8 rescan of 3par 7400 storage fails

Hello,

anybody out there, with one or more HP 3par 7400 arrays and using storage snapshots for backup in Veeam?!
We have two sites, on each we have one Veeam B&R Mannagement server and two HP 3par 7400 arrays and one HP 3par 7200 array.

After the update to Veeam B&R v8 we have the problem, that the function "Rescan Storage" fails for all HP 3par 7400 arrays with the error:

09.11.2014 18:58:14 Error    Failed to refresh HP 3PAR StoreServ storage HOSTNAME configuration Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
09.11.2014 18:58:14 Error    Failed to rescan HP 3PAR StoreServ storage HOSTNAME Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

The strange thing is, the rescan of the two HP 3par 7200 works flawless.

I had this in Version 7.0 R2 and had to remove the 3PARs and re-add them to the Veeam Console via IP and not the DNS name. Not sure if this will work for you and I haven't upgraded to version 8 yet, I'm not going to be a guinea pig for this one

Thank you for the hint, unfortunately the change from fqdn to ip doesn´t changed anything.
I hope the Veeam support have a quick fix for this.

I had contact with the support. The cause of the problem was that we had a empty host set on all of the HP 3par 7400 arrays.
The workaround from the support is to remove the empty host set.
After removing the host set the rescan works without problems.

Thanks for the update, that's great to know. That makes zero sense why an empty host set would cause Veeam to not connect to the array, but good to know this caveat. Thanks!
