VBR migration to another server
Hello,
I want to migrate the VBR server to another server.
currently: VBR is installed on the repository server for backup copy jobs, named VEEAMREPO1. This server is also declared with an SOBR and as a WAN Accelerator.
what I want: install VBR on a virtual machine, named VBR1
what I did: I migrated the database in MIGRATE mode (advice from veeam support), everything is fine, however after the migration the VEEAMREPO1 server became VBR1. The SOBR is now declared on VBR1 and has therefore become unavailable.
how can I do in order to redeclare the SOBR with the right server without breaking anything?
I am also awaiting a response from support.
Thanks for your help

Re: VBR migration to another server
Hello,
did you already add VEEAMREPO1 as repository server and created the SOBR on it? After that (including rescan / import), you should be able to just switch the backup jobs to the new "old" SOBR in the backup job settings.
Can you please post the support case number for reference?
Best regards,
Hannes
PS: as long as you don't delete any files, it won't break

Re: VBR migration to another server
so if I understand correctly:
1- after the database migration I add the old VEEAMREPO1 as a managed server and I recreate the SOBR,
do I have to check the box "import automatically backup files"?
I guess the backups will appear as "Disk (imported)"?
2- after that I modify the jobs and I can delete the old bad SOBR
another question: I would also like to rename this server, I think I can take advantage of this procedure to do it?
here is the support case number: 04997965
thank you for your support.

Re: VBR migration to another server
Select the check box and the new repo will be rescanned during the creation process. All the backups will get under the Disk (Imported) node and get back to where they were before after you re-map the existing jobs to the new repository.
