My concern is achieving scheduled backups up my virtual machines in my homelab.
My setup:
-- Virtualization Software = ESXI 6.7 w/ VMUG licenses (i.e. "not free restricted ESXi")
-- Virtualization Hardware = Whitebox build, Dell Perc H700 raid controller (i.e. "PCIe directly attached storage raid volumes")
-- Backup Hardware = standalone 2 drive synology NAS w/ option for network storage via nfs-smb-iscsi
Can VBR community edition utilize my unrestricted ESXi license + standalone synology NAS to perform weekly/nightly backups of my VMs while they are running?
(even if my esxi host uses Raid controller attached storage... instead of iscsi/nfs 'presented' storage)
Theoretically (if my systems have the performance/storage for it) could I use VBR to take nightly backups of VMs while running? Even a VM that was a single server Microsoft Exchange host?

Re: VBR newbie question
Thank you Gostev!!
One last newbie question: if I have two large enough synology nas storage respositories... in two geographically separated locations on planet Earth... and both geo sites have fast enough internet. Does VBR community edition support offsite replication through the world wide web "series of tubes" that makes up the internet?
Humour aside, my question is attempting to determine the limitations of the community edition versus the expensive edition.
(Minimum Best backup practice has copy #1 on prem, copy #2 offsite)

Re: VBR newbie question
Yes, you can replicate your backups with the Community Edition, the feature you need to use is called the Backup Copy job. There are no limitations with this functionality: maintaining an off-site copy of your backups is mandatory as per the 3-2-1 rule of backups, while the whole concept of our Community Edition is to provide ALL essential functionality to make it the complete solution for production environments (just limited by the max number of protected workloads).
