Hello all. I feel this is the type of question that has been asked and answered but I can not find. We picked up a small customer with a simple windows 2016 windows server running as a DC, DHCP, eetc.Very small with 8 users. Normally we would install a vbr server onsite on dedicated hardware or a VM but due to budget constraints we simply deployed the windows 6.1 agent directly on the windows server and manage it via our VSPC instance. This all seems fine.
However it would seem that the agent does not have features such as network throttling based on the time of day or backup copy job functions since we want to backup to an onprem device and then also have a backup copy job to object storage. The agent seems to require us to create 2 separate jobs.
So I know this server is a DC but would it be a terrible idea to install VBR on this server to be able to leverage the aforementioned 2 features?
Thanks for any input

Re: VBR installed on server being protected
Edit. After some discussion the plan of installing VBR on this server since it is a DC is not a great idea from a best practice perspective (security and performance). We will re-evaluate and see if we can come up with more options.
I think we will likely need to live with the aforementioned limitations of the Veeam agent or install a VBR server on-prem which is possible and logical.
