Veeam 12 - Backup Copy Job changes Pruning to Mirror

Hello,

Im just curious about the following line as we do run both Periodic and Mirror jobs.

Does this mean in Veeam 12 we will need to delete our periodic copy (Pruning) jobs and make new immediate copy (mirroring) jobs or will there me a mechanism to convert the jobs over from Periodic Copy (pruning) to Immediate Copy (mirroring) ? This would be nice to know prior to the release as we use about 70 / 20 Periodic to Mirroring and would like to know in advance if we need to start changing over now so we have all jobs converted in time or if that is not a concern.

Hello,
V12 will have a "universal" backup copy job that allows switching between the two modes.

If you change anything, the most important thing is that you use per-machine backup chains. The V12 backup copy job only supports per-machine backup chains. After upgrade, existing per-job chains will continue to work, but all new backup copy jobs will use per-machine chains.

Great thanks for the information that is very helpful and good to hear! this will save us a lot of work.

While i have you guys if i may, do you know if Postgres will be a requirement for V12 or if SQL will still be a option moving forward. If you dont know thats okay i didnt see too many details on the subject other than Postgres is now a option and new installs will default to it.

You will still have a choice of what database type to use - Postgre will not be mandatory. Thanks!
