Veeam and Symantec Enterprise Vault

Post by o0ross0o »

We are running Symantec EV in two VMs. One runs the EV server and one runs SQL to host the DBs. We are looking to move to a pure Veeam backup solution however we are concerned about the backups of this one application. Does anyone have any best practices around this?

Hello Ross, could you please elaborate your concern further? I don't have this application installed in my labs, but I would recommend using Veeam VSS for proper freezing SQL VM before snapshotting, that should guarantee application consistency.

I have been researching this exact issue myself. From what I have found, the best way to do a backup of the EV server requires some special setup including installing the EV console on the Veeam server so that you can run some EV based powershell commands prior to running the backup. Here are some links that I was reading about this on.
