Veeam B&R 8 ad Synology DS215J-repository only as SMB

Hi,

im Using Veeam B&R 8.0.0.917 and tried to add My Synology DS215J (Firmware: DSM_DS215j_5565.pat) as an repository Server as an Linux Server with SSH.

First i installed Perl on the NAS
Then i followed this turorial, because the ssh on the NAS needed tweaking: http://blog.millard.org/2014/11/repair- ... linux.html
Then i was able to add the NAS as an Linux server
But when i started to add it as an repository, Veeam tries to start a few scripts on the NAS and then i get an error

veeam failed to start client agent on the host

i tried this, but i guess that isnt the error: http://www.veeam.com/kb1105

I think that the Synology DS215J with Firmware DSM_DS215j_5565.pat isnt able to be used as an repository in veeam. Perhaps it isnt possible, perhaps its just a bit Linux Tweaking. Anyway, here is my Veeamshel.log, if someone wants to check:

Yes, currently, you can add Synology box as a repository server only via Linux/Windows server.

Hi Fubber,

If you really-really want to use your Synology as a Linux repo server and you are ready to play around with chroot'ing it, then please check this link.

ATTENTION: Of course, "pimping" your DS may result in a loss of warranty. However, folks say that nothing unrecoverably wrong can happen. In the worst case you just roll everything back (I mean chroot your box back to its initial state).

Do you mean Shared Folder? Because in my case adding an repository as an linux server doesnt work, adding as a shared folder works.

Aside from CIFS, you can either use NFS share mounted to a Linux server or iSCSI LUN mapped to a Windows/Linux server.
