Veeam B&R detecting wrong Windows OS 21H1 build 19043
Hi I am trying to add a machines local drive as a backup repository but the machine is coming up as having an unsupported OS. Specifically I am getting back error "veeam Microsoft windows 10 (1507) is not supported" even though the machines OS is on build 19043 which is from May 2021 I believe.
Any guidance is appreciated!

Hello! Well, at least the error is not incorrect you are right in that Windows 21H1 was only released recently, and it is not yet supported.
Veeam Backup & Replication 11 that was shipped 5 months ago is simply unaware of such Windows build, which is why the detection fails.
Thanks!

Ah I see! Thanks for the quick reply.
Looks like there is a patch available that I am going to look into https://www.veeam.com/kb4126.
Also poking around to see that Veeam usually takes around 90 days after GA to catch up.

Re: Veeam B&R detecting wrong Windows OS
You are right, just please note that as per the patch description, it does not add support for Windows 21H1 either. And by now our regression testing of the GA code is finding actual issues with 21H1 in some scenarios, for example with Bare Metal Recovery - which is why I did not even recommend that patch to you, only to have you run into some other issues later.
So ideally, you should stick to the System Requirements and don't use 21H1 at all until the official support is released as a part of 11a.

Thanks for both quick responses Gostev, really appreciated. We are a small shop with limited release/patch management which is why we let something like this get away!
Until 11a is officially released I will just run native windows backups for this machine.
Thanks again

File-level recovery should work fine by the way, I only heard of some issue with Bare Metal Recovery for now. Probably no reason not to continue backup with Veeam, but in addition also use something officially supported.

Hey Gostev. Wondering if there is any update on a release for 11a? Also wondering if P20210507 is still having issues or if it is okay to roll out to our Veeam server?
thank you

Target release window is august 2021, if nothing has changed on veeam side. There is also the possibility for unexpected bugs in the testing process
