Hi there
I have taken after another guy, regarding backup in my company.
I just now realize, that some of the backup jobs, are not performing right.
We are running Veeam B&R v8, onto an EMC DataDomian storage.
The job tells to have 10 restore points, but when I look into the folder of the job, and into an restore point of the server, I have 135 points to restore back to.
Thats way to many.
Other jobs are running correct, but I have so far found 4 jobs, there hold way more than the expected 10 restore points.
How to I get an proper cleanup in this?
I both want to have the jobs cleanup, and also the files.

Hi Allan,
Can you please tell me what backup mode are you using? How many full backups (VBKs) do you have for this backup chain? Also, can you please open a restore wizard and check how many restore points are displayed there?

Your comments put me into the right directions
I have been looking into what you ask, and can see that there haven't been created any new VBK files for several months now.
So it looks like the creating full backup jobs are not running corret.
When looking further into this, I can see that the jobs are running into different "Working Hours", so it seems that the jobs never get to start, before they have to quit again.
I will make all the nessesary changes to make sure that my Full backup are running again, and then I'm pretty sure all of my restore points will disappere again
I will let you know how it goes.

Yes, that must be it. Incremental restore points cannot be deleted if they don't have a related VBK (full backup) when running incremental backup mode. Once you trigger full job pass, your job will delete restore points according to your retention policy settings.
