Good Morning,
I have been trying to research if Veeam will backup the SQL Server Analysis Services Databases as part of its Application Aware processing with the same point in time restore capability as the other relational databases on the Server?
Or does it not see these in the same way it sees the other relational databases and therefore can only restore the database files relating to the Analysis Services Database rather than the Database itself.
Any guidance would be appreciated, I have tried to check these boards and the knowledge base articles but not quite found a definitive answer.
Many Thanks,
Derrick

Re: Veeam B&R SQL Server Analysis Services Backups
Hi Derrick,
In general, with AAIP enabled B&R operates on the database engine layer when backing up SQL databases and is capable of backing up and restoring any relational databased running on the SQL server, regardless of the application residing on top of it. This also includes the possibility to perform point in time restores through transaction log replay. Thus, the answer is Yes if the underlying database of SSAS runs on the SQL dbengine instance.
Thanks
