Veeam B&R Upgrade 12.3.1.1139 Problem

Post by ChuckS42 »

On one of my Veeam B&R instances I get this error: "This update is not compatible with installed product version" for upgrading Veeam B&R 12.3.1.1139. The "Update Veeam Backup & Replication" option is greyed out. The Enterprise Manager upgrade went fine. I have another VB&R instance that upgraded fine. What gives?

Do you use the upgrade ISO or the full one? The upgrade ISO can only be used to upgrade from 12.3.0.310, if that one server has a lower version you must use the full ISO.

All of my installs did this. I tried both upgrade and full iso. I can only assume it was because I remove the add-ons I'll never use including: AWS, Google, KVM, Microsoft Entra & Nutranix. They have all errored out on me at one point or another. Not sure why.

Interesting. I don't think I've ever removed any add-ons, but I've been running this system for quite a few years now, never having had this problem before.

I usually remove the add-ons after upgrading as I don't use them. I would like to see a modification made to the installer to give you the option whether or not to install the add-ons.

All sorted. Basically, I had to completely remove Veeam B&R and Enterprise Manager entirely and reinstall them.

Assuming that's the cause, this was discussed more thoroughly here: veeam-backup-replication-f2/v12-3-1-113 ... 98022.html

Apparently it is against Veeam support's recommendation to remove those extra components and it is known that it will break the update process.

After installing the latest patch 12.3.1.1139, I ran the SQL restore. No job is visible. This happened on two different Veeam installation. Has anyone noticed this?

This would be a great modification to the installer. It's nice that they exist but since they are technically optional and can be uninstalled there should be an option to opt out of installing them to begin with.
