veeam backup 5.0 windows drive restore problems.

Post by lluisclemente »

Hi , thanks in advance for the help because it's needed .
We have a virtual machine with Windows 2k8 R2, with restore problems.
It has C: and D: drives, D: was dynamic at first so we couldn't see d:at restore console.
We've changed D to basic, and tried to make a backup of it, the backup has the size of C + D , but we can't find D on restore list.
We've created a new drive F: basic, and copied all D: info, as we try to restore it appears in restore Backup Browser as D:.
So here are my questions.
Is there any way to make D: able to be restored again?
Is there any chance to clone D: vmdk and so it works again?
If we clone the drive do you know if shared folder permissions will stay the same?

Any help appreciated .

Regards.

Lluis

Could you please tell me how have you changed disk drive to basic? As far as I know converting the dynamic disk back to a basic disk requires that all dynamic volumes are deleted on the disk first.

Volumes where deleted, but something was kept with the disk vmdk or whatever, that we aren't able to restore it.

In this case I believe you can create a new virtual disk and then copy all files and folders with preserved permission via any file manager (e.g. Total Commander), should work.
