This is my server 2012 vm and sql 2012 installed on it. when ever we run the backup job for this vm is failed and it gives the following error msg
"2/24/2017 11:30:37 PM :: Unable to release guest. Error: VSSControl: Failed to freeze guest, wait timeout "
"2/24/2017 11:32:06 PM :: Error: VSSControl: Failed to freeze guest, wait timeout "
i have search on the internet and some one told to create Dword value " VssPreparationTimeout" on the veeam server here is the veeamlink"https://www.veeam.com/kb1377"
so i have done it and it successfully create the backup of the above VM. Next day the incremental backup is schedule but again and again we have facing the same issue.

As mentioned by Vitaliy, please open a support case on https://cp.veeam.com so that they can troubleshoot your specific use case. Probably your SQL server is overloaded and is not able to flush and freeze on time.

Hi Furqan,

Glad to hear that it is solved. So updating your windows server (and SQL also?) with the latest windows updates did the trick? (Probably also because there was a reboot involved...). Were you far behind in updates or only the last month?

Thanks for the additional information
Mike
