Veeam Backup Copy job to NAS cleanup job
Hi
I have a client site running vmware. 3 VMs one of them running Veeam Backup and Replication 9.0.0.1491 to backup other two VMs.
I have one daily backup job going to CIFS NAS1.
I have 1 Backup Copy job running once a day going to 2 offsite CIFS NAS named NAS2 and NAS3. These both have same IP address and get rotated.
Basically after time the two offisite NAS2 and NAS3 run out of space and need clearing to prevent disruption of future backup copy jobs.
Are there any ways to automate cleaning up the two offsite NAS2 and NAS3

Hi Jarrad and welcome to the community!
Could you clarify your goal please?
If you want to decrease number of backup files, have considered shrinking the job retention?
Thanks!

There's an ability to perform rotated drive cleanup prior to creating new restore point.

Hi
@Shestakov - The job retention is set to 4 however does not clean up the backup copy files before/ after backup copy.
@Foggy - Hi Foggy, I tried this on Friday however this deletes ALL the Full and Incremental backups on the offsite drive. This is not ideal.
Basically I would like to delete all backups except the last two successful Backup Copies. Then swap that drive over and take offsite. Then repeat the process rotating the drives.

Backup copy job retention does not work on CIFS reposiories. You can achieve that if you map the storage to the backup server as local disk (via iSCSI, for example).

If the drives are being physically rotated, iSCSI can not be an option.

You could script deletion of all backups older than the most recent full.

Please search our PowerShell dedicated subforum for available examples and feel free to ask for assistance in creating a script there.
