Post by OMW72 »

Hi all,
I have a quick question regarding Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager and Veeam Backup and Replication.
Is it an official supported scenario to intall both applications on the same server?

Hi OMW72

Yes, you can do that, and it's supported. However, therecommendation is to use a separate machine, ideally in your recovery location if you have one.

Why is this important? If you utilize features such as password loss protection it's crucial to keep the Enterprise Manager unaffected by potential issues on your backup server machine. You want to have your Enterprise Manager fully working to recover from backup files in case you lost your encryption key.

Additionally, if you plan to offer self-service features to your employees or vCloud Director tenants, it’s advisable to use a dedicated machine in a separate network zone for the Enterprise Manager. Or every customer/enduser will have an open web connection to the backup server machine.

Maybe you can share which feature you want to use from the Enterprise Manager?

Best,
