Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager timing out!!!

Post by felyjos »

Hello,

As the web page for Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager is constantly timing out!!! and there will not be any upgrade from SQL Express to SQL Standard or Enterprise before 2015 :( I am looking for another way to extract the list of VMs backed up by Veeam Backup through:
- Powershell
- SQL Query

I will need the following field:
VN Name - Status (ON/OFF) - Type (VM/Template) - ESX Host - Cluster - ...

The target of this is to understand where we are loosing VMs....
- vCenter 686 VMs
- Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager 589
- Veeam One Reporting 58x ( x varies depending on the days between 2 and 7)

Any clue
Thanks,
Dom

I had the same issue for EM timing out. The express version cannot handle too much info. I reduced the history I kept in EM and it works now. If you haven't got a reason for holding a lot of history you might try that.

Gostev: find out Veeam One vs Veeam Backup discrepancies... duplicates(12) and job not running (3) so I am okay with this count
Peter: I will check the history but we have also a growth on the number of VMs, so I don't know if SQL express is still valid for 700 VMs... any idea?

Thanks a lot

We recommend SQL Express for no more than 500 VMs.

Hi Dominique, what duplicates are you referring to?

I have VMs existing in several Veeam Backup jobs so they appear several time in the VeeamOne Backup report each time for each job...
Most of the time they are in:
Failure job which means they were failing at once and be placed in this job for recovery
regular Production job which means the VMs have successful backups

Usually the VMs should never be in two jobs if the process put in place was done from A to Z but unfortunately they are some human impact :)
BTW: Do you have a tool, query, available to prevent this not to control afterwards...(Veeam Reports)?

Thanks,
Dom

Yes, try this report - VMs Backed Up by Multiple Jobs to identify all of these VMs and jobs.

Hello,

I checked this report but I am not sure it is what I need:
VMs Backed Up by Multiple Jobs
as it giving me:
VMs with Largest Avg. Transferred Data (GB)
VMs with Largest Processing Time (Minutes)
except if I try to check machine by machine I will have the machine with multiple backups but I have also machine with single backup listed... it is confusing between the description of the report and the contete..

trying to rerun it
Thanks,
Dom

This reports will list you all VMs that are backed up by multiple jobs in the details. Can you please confirm that you see only one job listed for that VM which has multiple backups?

No it seems more complex ...
I have VMs with multiple backup jobs listed with their two jobs
I have VMs with multiple backup jobs in Veeam Backup listed only with one job (most of them because the second job is not currently running .... for at least a week)
I have VMs listed with no multiple backups jobs in Veeam Backup

... the good things is I have only 25 machines meaning there is a selection done , but I need more time to know exactly what is selected...

The only issue I see here is the last thing - VMs with no jobs. Can you please either show me the report (via PM) or open a support ticket and upload the report for me to review?
