Post by dellock6 » 2 people like this post

Hi all,
since it has been a common topic in the last months in these forums, I've created a blog post about it, and I would like to share it with you.
Feel free to comment, suggest improvements and correction. Every opinion is welcome :)

Just a small correction, it's VRB not VBR for the reversed increment.

Wow, if it's the only error in the whole paper, I should be happy ;)
Thanks for the correction, my mistake.

Good explanation, nice and concise, makes comparisons easy

99% percent of my backups are Reverse Inc, only 2 VMs are in Forward Inc and that's because they were giving me trouble with Reverse but now they perform better in Forward Inc

If you have a high daily CBT amount, reverse incremental can be really intensive on backup storage, since you have many blocks to update. I've seen problems in Exchange servers for example.

Well, it's on FC SAN 4gb on 15k and 7.2k drives :)

I only move them off Reverse after they give me trouble such as very large .VIBs

If that's your backup storage, I do not wanna know what is your production storage :)
