Veeam Backup Proxy licencing

Post by adam900331 »

Hy!

Our network has two ESXi node in vCenter with shared storage and some physical servers. I would like to create two backup proxy (one for SAN backup for vCenter and one for LAN backup for physical servers). How can I licence the backup proxy? Can I licenced for two backup proxy server?

Thanks.

Hi Adam

A veeam backup proxy doesn‘t need a dedicated veeam license. Only the veeam backup server need a veeam license. This license will be used to backup the vms and the physical machines. For storage integration, you have to use VUL or a socket license with enterprise plus edition.
You can deploy as many proxies you want.

By the way, physical servers doesn‘t need a Veeam Proxy. The veeam Agent on the physical machine will backup the data directly to the configured backup repo.
There is one scenario scenario, where a proxy is needed (veeam Agent backup with storage snapshot integration).
