Veeam Backup & Replication Console
Hi,
I would like to know Veeam Console.
1. Can I access to the Veeam Backup Server using Port forward from internet.
The bellow is the sample strucutre, and I will configure port foward on FireWall.
---------------
| Client PC |
---------------
|
|
---------------
| Internet |
---------------
|
| global IP: 1.1.1.1
---------------
| FireWall |
---------------
|
| IP: 192.168.1.1
---------------
| VBR |
---------------
I checked the bellow document and I think it is not supported.
-https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
If you install the console remotely, you can deploy it behind NAT. However, the backup server must be outside NAT. The opposite type of deployment is not supported: if the backup server is deployed behind NAT and the remote console is deployed outside NAT, you will not be able to connect to the backup server.
2.Is the connection from Veeam Console to Veeam Backup Server encrypted ?
I could not find official document about this.
Best regards

Re: Veeam Backup & Replication Console
Hi Kei
I suggest using a VPN.
Allowing accessing the backup server directly from a client machine on the internet doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
Can I ask what's the use case for such an implementation? Maybe there is a better option I can provide.
Thanks
Fabian

Hi Fabian
Thank you for reply.
But in this case, we have the some restriction and we can not use VPN and other method....
(we will restrict using ip filtering )
So please tell me the above my question.
I understand this is the best way for remote access
Best regards

Re: Veeam Backup & Replication Console
Hi Kei
Let me check the answers for you.
Normally, a partner/customer implements one of the following solutions for remote management and monitoring:
- Use a VPN
- Use the remote console over Veeam Cloud Connect
- Use the veeam service provider console to monitor this backup server.
Just to make it clear, there will be limitations when using the console on a remote client. Is it only the "one backup server" or do you have distributed Veeam components over different servers? As an example, for different restore tasks your remote client with the VBR console must have direct network access to file servers, application servers, mount servers, and to the backup repository. Without a VPN, you will most likely not be able to restore application data from this remote client.
Thanks
Fabian

Hi Fabian
Thank you for your reply and recommendation of remote access.
I will use all-in-one install.
Could you tell me the above two questions.
best regards.

Re: Veeam Backup & Replication Console
Hi Kei
I have an update.
1) It is indeed not supported. Our recommendation would be to use RDP (or a similar tool) to connect to the VBR server.
2) Management traffic between our components is always encrypted.
Thanks
Fabian
