Veeam backup to NAS

Post by osonder »

Hello. For the moment I'm using 3 different SAN (mounted together in a repository) as follws:

SAN 1: MSA2000 (Capasity 7,3 Tb)
SAN 2: EVA6600 (Capasity 4,4 Tb)
SAN 3: EVA4400 (Capasity 3,3 Tb)
Total capasity: 15Tb

All these SAN is old. Is it possible to by a NAS instead? Like this: https://www.komplett.no/product/985854/ ... y-rack-nas#
And fill it with 4 pcs of fast disks in Raid5. Will it do the job? Any concerns? Any recommendations?
Best regards

Yes, we support this envrionments.

That said, performence should be tested or wisely architected.
For example I guess you have a lot of disks in the MSA and EVAs. If you replace for example 40 10k disks with 4 big nearline disks you have more than 15x less IOs per second on the backup target. You backup speed will likely be slower. Please check with a Veeam Partner that sell as well the storage you would prefere and speak/plan with him the needed speed.

At least do a POC if the storage work as fast as your old storage at scale.
