Veeam.Backup.UIServer.exe memory usage

Post by kevin.boddy »

Hi,

We are consistently seeing the Veeam.Backup.UIServer.exe process memory usage having the highest memory consumption across all of our 8+ VBR servers.
I can end task the process and they restart automatically with a much smaller memory footprint then it gradually over time grows to multiple GB.

Is this expected behavior?
Is there anyway to stop this?

Thanks
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

If possible, can you share a few additional details?

- How much memory usage are we discussing? Rough numbers are fine, just would be great to have some understanding of high vs low here
- What roles do the servers with high memory usage have? (proxy, repo, etc)
- Is it specifically during backup operations? If so, what is the blocksize (Storage Optimization Settings here) set for the job?

Hard to tell without some more specifics on memory usage, so we can maybe give some advices here depending on the above. Thanks!

Hi,

The Veeam.Backup.UIServer.exe process uses anything from 2.5GB to 5GB+ of memory.
These are VBR + VCC servers. We have separate proxy, repo, mount and gateway servers.
No it's not just during backup operations. The memory usage for this process stays high until the task is ended manually.
Veeam recommended defaults are used for storage block size so 1MB.

Thanks
Kevin
