Veeam Backup + Veeam Backup copy job

Post by mdking »

Hi All,

A Quick question:

Currently I have a Veeam Backup Copy job running (Full backup as this is a new job), this is copying from a normal veeam backup.

What happens when the Veeam backup, starts a new backup job? Does the copy job pause or does it just keep going with the current backup job?

(Should I stop the normal backup job, whilst its copying over?)

Hi Matt,
You should not stop bcj (backup copy job), source backup job start will not affect running bcj. New restore point created by backup job will be copied during next bcj run.
Thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply.

Just to confirm, this backup copy job is around 5TB. So a new backup job is created before the copy job has time to back the file to the cloud connect provider.

It looks like the backup job locks the file and cuts the copy job off, is this correct? And will the copy job start off from where it left off?

Thanks

Backup job locks backup files if it merges them. If you have simple incremental chain backup copy job should keep working.
