Veeam BR Licensing.

Post by Bobiskey »

Morning All

So am working on a plan to take the current company I work for to Veeam Backup and Replication. It's been a few years since I did this, but it is also my 4th or 5th time.

Anyway.

What I want to do is the following.

Backup 10 servers, all virtual. They will be spread across two physical servers with replication and such (not Veeam).
These will be backed up as follows.
To server store and replicated to cloud store.
To tape on Schedule to fit around
(This isn't the complete backup, but gives what's needed for this)

So Physical store and cloud replicated. Then to tape on schedule.

In the past to complete this I would have brought the enterprise CPU licence to cover the physical servers. But now it's different.

Can I accomplish this with Veeam Backup Essentials or do I need to stick with Enterprise editions as before. Not sure who this works now with the new VUL licencing.

Any advice? Concreate answers? :)

Hi Ian

Welcome to the forums.

I recommend to have a look at Veeam Backup Essential VUL (available in 5er packages with a limit of max 50 VULs).
With VUL, you have always the Enterprise Plus feature set. I believe this are the two you require:
- SOBR with Capacity Tier Offload to Object Storage
- Backup to Tape Jobs

Best to get in contact with your reseller or Veeam sales representative to get a quote.

Thanks

I have quotes, I even asked my reseller who sent me a PDF which didn't help :)

I just need to be sue Veeam Essential VUL will cover me for SOBR tiering and Schedules to tape backups.

Or maybe I need a new reseller :)

Your welcome.
Yes, I can confirm that Veeam Backup Essential VUL will cover both features. :)
VUL do not have editions like Sockets (Std, Ent, Ent+).

You can use our edition comparison guide as a further confirmation:

Thanks for the replies.

Thanks Mildur, that PDF is perfect, why didn't my reseller just send me that.

Can proceed now with the confidence this isn't going to bite me in the arse when I set it up. :)
