Veeam Compression on NTFRS server

Post by shaun_ec »

Hi All,

I’ve got 9.2 TB NTFRS server that I need to backup to disk. The Veeam backup size is around 2.9 TB. I would like to try and get this down.

• Disks on a VNX5300
• The space currently used on the server is about 2.5 TB.
• All disks on the server are Thick eager zero disks.
• Two of the disks are 2 TB in size with no data on them.

I have tried every sort of compression level within Veeam, but doesn’t make much difference. Do you think turning on Compression on the Lun will give me better compression? Also will it make a difference if I convert the 2 Eager zero disks which contain no data to thin provisioned disks.

Any help with will be much appreciated.
