VEEAM Console will not start for just one windows user profile

Post by jmurray »

Has anybody seen an issue where just one of the user profiles on the VEEAM backup machine will not start the VEEAM console? We have 2 profiles on this machine with admin premissions, and after a recent power outage where the VEEAM machine was improperly powered off the profile that was logged in at the time cannot start the console. This is the second time this has happened (bad power and not enough battery backup). The last time we just created a new windows user profile, but we had to transfer a good bit of settings, etc. from the old profile. Anybody have an idea of a quick fix?

Hi Jason.

User-defined console settings are kept under:

Code: Select all

C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\Veeam_Software_Group_GmbH\veeam.backup.shell.exe\11.0.0.0\user.config
In some very rare cases that file structure might get corrupted, locking ability to open console. Deleting the file will reset console settings to defaults and re-create said user.config file.
It does have simple XML structure, so you can open it and check\migrate some settings over.

Just wondering, if you can give examples of settings you wanted to preserve across? Are those Veeam settings or Windows User Profile ones? Will make a note for future console tuning improvements ;)

/Cheers!
