Hello Vincent,

Could you please tell me if you've enabled application-aware image processing while backing up your Exchange VM?

Thank you!

Yes, this option is only displayed when backup server uses application-aware image processing which detects Exchange server and enables this button in the GUI.

BTW - be aware that you can start Veeam Explorer for Exchange by one of the three ways described in our User Guide (page 306).

Note that you can start Veeam Explorer for Exchange even on backup that did not have application-aware processing enabled, however for that you need to start file level recovery process, and then click the corresponding button in the Backup Browser UI.

[MERGED] Where is the Explorer for Exchange?

Post by cwhitmore »

I've been using the free version of Backup & Replication 6.5, but can't find the Explorer for Exchange. The documentation says that it's included.
How do I access it?

Hello Carlton,

Yes it is indeed included as it's mentioned in the whitepapers and on the website. Per user guide you can do the following (the link to the user guide you can find on top of this thread):

To start Veeam Explorer for Exchange, you can do one of the following:
• Pass through the Exchange Items Restore wizard
• Restore the .edb file manually and open it from the Veeam File Browser
• Select All Programs > Veeam > Veeam Exchange Explorer from the Windows Start menu

The basic procedure for recovering items with Veeam Explorer for Exchange involves the following steps:
1. Perform initial configuration of Veeam Explorer for Exchange
2. Restore the database file (.edb) from the backup
3. Add one or several database files
4. Find necessary items
5. Restore items
