I am trying to extract a successful .vbk veeam backup to vmdk, with extract tool in the programfiles veeam folder.
It seems like it is taking an eternity.
Is this normal?
Or is there a better way to do this?
it is 3:30 pm here right now. we started this at like 12 noon.
It is version 8.1.

Re: Veeam extract to vmdk taking forever.
Depends on VMDK size and storage performance. With large VMDK or low-IOPS storage it's not unusual for an extraction to take hours.

Are using extract tool to restore VM? I'm asking since installation of backup server and usage of Instant VM Recovery might sometimes take less time. Thanks.

Also keep in mind that using extract tool pointed to NTFS volume will make your VMDK disk a thick one. This could also be a reason of the observed performance.
