Hi Veeam Community,
Our SAN supports integrated CIFS shares so we do not use virtualized Windows File Servers.
What I was hoping to do was use Veeam FIle Copy to "replicate" our data to our disaster recovery site on a schedule. Is it possible to use symbolic links on a Windows server that point to our UNC path for CIFS shares so that Veeam can see the symbolic link as a local drive in the backup infrastructure?
Also, how exactly does the file copy technology work? Does it use NTFS change journaling or does it just run a modified/created/accessed timestamp comparison to copy data?
Thanks,
Andrew

Re: Veeam file copy - symbolic links to non windows CIFS sha
Hello Andrew,
File copy job just copies files as they are (always full), it doesn't track changed blocks. As to using symbolic links, then as far as I remember someone on these forums have already tried that and it worked.
Thank you!
