Hi All,
Just wondered if anyone out there who is already using the IBM V3700 and Veeam has managed to figure out the read-only LUN for the Veeam host?
I know you configure the Veeam server with direct attached storage for SAN backups and you set the "Windows automount = disabled" to prevent the VMFS volumes being corrupted, but with other storage i've seen you can configure the host to only have read-only access to the LUNs and not read/write?
If anyone has figured this out can the add a simple how to? Im guesing it has to be achieved in the CLI?

Re: Veeam & IBM V3700 SAS Storage
As far as I know the V3700 is based on the V7000 Storwize. So the functionality will likely be the same. If IBM hasn't changed the coding, the V3700 will not give an option to mount a lun read-only to a host. We run V7000's (and also SVC's) and mounting a lun read-only hasn't been possible since the early beginning. I don't think that will change in the forseeable future. We have been wondering already for a long time why this option isn't available, but there must be a good reason for it. So you will have to rely on the disable automount and securing your diskmgmt and diskpart to avoid unwanted mounting of luns.

Re: Veeam & IBM V3700 SAS Storage
Just wanted to point out that disabling "automount" is not needed, this action is performed automatically by Veeam backup server. Moreover, there is a new parameter that should be configured instead of automount, see this topic for further details > Securing repository proxy for use with san access
