Veeam Netapp label integration
Hi,
is there a possibility to use Netapp labels when you make Veeam storage snapshots ? if not can we look into creating this for a next release ?
This way you can let Netapp handle the transfer of the snapshots and the snapshot count you want to keep where.
another good thing about is you can let Netapp schedule when you want transfer the data to your Netapp snapvault location. so you can schedule it in off hours instead of only directly after the snapshot.

Hi, currently retention and snapshot transfer mechanisms are implemented by Veeam B&R itself, you cannot use NetApp labels for that.

Re: Veeam Netapp label integration
Hi,
I understand that it is currently not implemented. adding the possibility to apply a Netapp label makes the choice more flexible and then there also become possibility's to schedule the main backup on the day , but the secondary backup by netapp in the evening to an offside location. if you use veeam for it you need to schedule primary and secondary snapshot at ones.

So far we haven't considered implementing this capability, but thanks for the feedback, anyway.

Re: Veeam Netapp label integration
What can we do to get this function considered for implementation ?
Seen from the netapp view of snapshots a label is almost like a necessity. this is for sure already in their api
as netapp uses this labels for all further steps in what is done with this snapshots.

You can consider your post as a submitted feature request, no need to do anything else.

Re: Veeam Netapp label integration
+1 for the feature request here. Having the ability to add a snapmirror_label on NetApp snaps would help a lot - we're doing a tiered backup local to remote snapmirror to secondary remote snapvault, and without this we need to run a Powershell job on every backup.
