Veeam on Windows 2012 Storage Server
Hello Guys,
I was using a HP DL360 G6 as my veeam server/proxy with a 16 bay Qnap as a target. I just got a few dollars to upgrade a some systems so I am wondering if I can free up a few U's in the colo site by cutting down from 5Us to 2Us by consolidating. I just got a 2U HP EasyStore 24TB Windows 2012 Storage Server so I wondering If I can install Veeam directly to the box and not only user it as a target.

Hello Uuan, yes you can do that, I do not expect any issues with this setup. Thank you.

Re: Veeam on Windows 2012 Storage Server
Thank you for the info.
My DL360 has my backup files on a iscsi lun mapped to drive x:
Would it best serve me if i........................
-Backup my configuration on old servr
-Create a new volume with the same x: drive?
-Install Veeam on 2012 storage server
-Copy the entire x: drive file structure from the old server to the new server x: drive?
-Restore the veeam config?
Does the server name need to be the same?

Uuan, please see another existing topic for tips on migration to a new Veeam server: Planning Migration of Veeam Server to another Server.

[MERGED] 2012 Storage Server Standard
Hello,
I'm working on a brand new Veeam 7 deployment and am considering using an HP StoreEasy 1630 NAS device as my proxy/storage repository. The device is preinstalled with Windows Storage Server 2012 standard, has a Intel® Xeon E5-2407 2.2GHz quad core processor and 12GB Memory out of the box. Can anyone advise if it is feasible, generally speaking, to run the proxy and backup repository on this device as specified above? I'm planning on a seperate physical server acting as the Veeam backup server.

Re: 2012 Storage Server Standard
Hello Kyle,
If you're going to use this device as a proxy server, then you will be limited to network job processing mode. What connection will you have to the source hosts? 10 GbE?
Thank you!

Re: 2012 Storage Server Standard
Since we're still in the design phase, we have flexibility as to our connectivity options.

Re: 2012 Storage Server Standard
That's good. What is your local storage then? Do you use SAN to host your VMs? If you could give us a bit more information on your planned configuration, that would help.

Kyle, here's another existing topic regarding your question, worth reviewing: Windows Storage Server 2012 compatibility
