veeam proxies server should connect to FC?

Hi,

My Virtualization environment is using FC connection to storage (vm datastore), I just want to know if i separate 2 server one is veeam backup console only ( physical server ) and another is proxies server ( physical server ), should i need to connect FC to proxies server for better performance? Can i connect FC to proxies server in order to see the vmdatastore LUN on Veeam backup console to use direct san mode backup for LAN free backup? or i still need to attach FC connection to my veeam backup console as same as previous v5?

Hi Shio Soon Chyuan,

If you want to use direct SAN mode for the backup jobs, please configure backup proxies only.

There is no need to have direct FC connection to the backup console, as all VM data processing is now (v6) offloaded to backup proxies.

As i know the document currently is only v5 so which mean v6 veeam backup proxies server requirement is as same as v5 veeam backup console requirement, am i right?

Yes, but you may also want to review the updated system requirements once v6 is available.

Yes, SQL Server is required to store backup/replication jobs and other configuration data.
