Veeam Proxy Log File settings
Hi,
Config Overview:
Server 1: Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 with Update 1
Server 2: Veeam Proxy 1
Server 3: Veeam Proxy 2
Question:
All Servers are saving the log files to C:/ProgramData/Veeam/Backup/
Server 2 (Proxy1) and Server 3 (Proxy2) has two log file folder with over 10 GB used space. Is it possible to change the settings related the veeam b&r logfiles?
The Settings in the KB Article 1825 https://www.veeam.com/kb1825 are done on my Server 1 with the Backup & Replication Software. Is it useful to do the same on both Proxy Servers? Or is another solution available to change the logging settings on the proxys?
Thanks a lot and many regards,
Florian

Re: Veeam Proxy Log File settings
Hi Florian,
First: Welcome to the forums!
After the changes, I assume you have restarted the server? Did you also restart the proxy servers?
Have a look at best practices around logging on your Veeam Backup Server here: https://bp.veeam.expert/resource_planni ... izing.html
I am not 100 percent sure that these registry settings need to be applied at the proxy servers also (I thought the registry key needed to be done on the Veeam B&R server alone...)

Re: Veeam Proxy Log File settings
Hi Mike,
thank you for Welcome and your Post.
Yes we restarted all servers after the changes.
For example: Registry Key MaxLogCount(10) is working on the Server 1 with the Backup and Replication Software, but not on the both proxys. There is a Backup Job folder with 171 log items.
Many regards,
Florian

Re: Veeam Proxy Log File settings
Since I am not sure, and adding that registry to the Veeam Proxy server might break something (and we don't want that ) it might be best to create a support call and ask about the possibility and if this will solve your case. Please update this thread with the support case ID and the answer from support. I would like to know it also
Thanks
Mike
Thanks
Mike

Re: Veeam Proxy Log File settings
The same registry values should be specified on the proxy servers, if you want them to take effect there.

Re: Veeam Proxy Log File settings
Hi,
I know this is a old tread, but the solution doesn't fit to a Linux proxy. It doesn't have a "/etc/VeeamAgentConfig".
Any one who knows how limit the logs ?

Re: Veeam Proxy Log File settings
In order to change default values you need to:
- be on 10a
- create the file with the corresponding settings manually
Thanks!

Thanks Vladimir,
I can't seem to find an example on the format inside the file. Can you help with that ?

Re: Veeam Proxy Log File settings
Just create a file by the path /etc/VeeamAgentConfig with the content similar to the following:
Thanks!
Code: Select all
AgentMaxLogSize=2048000 #maximumsizeinbytes
