Veeam replication job maintenance

Post by RuaanP »

Good day, I am hoping to get some advise here. I did a first initial full Veeam replication job to DR. After the full I decided to exclude a certain 3TB disk from the replication job for this VM. My question is will the disk that was created on the replica when the full ran automatically be removed from the replica seeing that it is excluded from the replication now? I need the space to be freed up on the Datastore.
Veeam B&R = 9.5 update 3
VMware 6.5
Thanks

Welcome to Veeam Community Forums!

We are verifying this scenario. I'll let you know the outcome.

Thanks

Hi Ruaan, the excluded disk will go away according to the job retention. Thanks!

Hi Foggy. Thanks for the reply. I checked again. This specific disk has now been excluded from the job for 2 weeks. It has not gone away from the replica VM at the DR site yet. The replication job only has 1 restore point. It replicates Continuously. I also don't want to manually delete the excluded disk in VCenter at the DR site as I don't want Veeam to perhaps pick up that something has changed on the replica because then it might mark the replica as inconsistent or something.

Hi Ruaan, we've checked this internally and you're right, excluded disks remain in replica VM configuration regardless of the job retention settings, which is not expected. We will address this in one of the future updates - thanks for the heads up! Unfortunately, removing it manually will not help as it will get back again during the next job run.
