Hi All
question underlined if you do not want the story
version: Veeam 9.5 update2
Production Storage: Netapp (Storage Snapshots)
Veeam Repository: HP MSA
we currently backup by datastore to ensure we catch all VMs in the environment and keep the jobs seperated by country/service depending on number of machines per job
for example porbably a better layout then a currently have:
Germany Hosted Servers: 150vms in a single Job - contains 3 datastores
UK Hosted Servers: 150vms in a single job - contains 4 datastores
UK Files servers: 6 Servers (large Data Jobs) - contains 2 datastores
Shared Service ERP: 50 vms in single job - contains 2 datastores
Shared Service Core Infrastructure: 30 vms single job - contains 1 datastore
all jobs fall into the single repository on the MSA (e:\backups) using per-vm backup files
so for my questions i am slowly getting to
i am about to change all my datastores around for our SRM Project so datastores are going to be based more on hosted service then country
so witht he change in data store i need to create new jobs or edit the existing in a logical sense that works for us
if i change the datastores in the jobs and some VMs are switched from one job to another will this double the VM backup?? or as the repository is e:\backups will it see the original full and incrementals and carry on using them?
as the jobs create their own folders inside the repository....
its just my MSA is not unlimited resources - i have arounf 35% free space but if my large datastores change and fulls begin that 35% is going to drop rapidly and i would have to stretch my project over weeks/months for retention periods
hope that all makes sense

Re: Veeam Repository Job Reconfiguration
The latter, as backup jobs work independently from each other. Thanks.if i change the datastores in the jobs and some VMs are switched from one job to another will this double the VM backup??

Re: Veeam Repository Job Reconfiguration
i had a feeling this would be the answer
i was just hoping of a bit more awareness inside the backup repository
never mind ill just work a bit slower
thank you

Re: Veeam Repository Job Reconfiguration
You're thinking about more global data reduction technologies, consider using dedupe applicance, Windows dedupe or ReFS 3.1 volumes, etc. Thanks.
