Veeam Restore Slow

Doing a first ever restore of a 40GB VM to a blade server with direct attached storage..

Rate is 229KB/s

Done 1GB in about an hour...

What could be the issue

Could you please describe your setup in more detail? Do you have a proxy server on the target host so it could use hotadd for restore? What is your backup storage?

HI,

Veeam is installed on a server, this server is also the veean proxy server.

Backup Storage is a HP EVA SAN - restores are taking place over the network.

I had selected the restore individual vm option to restore.

I will cancel this now, as its only done another 600GB in 40mins

What numbers do you have if you try to upload a big file to the same datastore you're restoring this VM to (using vSphere Client)?

I can answer this, the numbers will obviously be the same. The real solution here is to add virtual backup proxy on the said host, thus enabling hot add restore.
