Apologies if this is straightforward, but does enabling "application-aware processing" for a job containing an Exchange mailbox database server trigger the deletion/retention settings on the mailbox database if the property "don't permanently delete items until the database has been backed up" is turned on? Or is Exchange/Veeam intelligent enough to trigger it regardless of this property?
Thank you!

Re: Veeam settings to purge Exchange items from database upon backup
This Veeam setting prunes transactions logs only. We don't touch actual mailbox databases. Thanks!

Thanks!
So just to clarify, there's no way in the Veeam job to trigger the "don't permanently delete items until the database has been backed up" mechanism on the mailbox database?

Correct, Veeam B&R jobs do not affect original databases.
