Veeam SQL Restores + DNS Lookup
Just an odd problem I've seen with Veeam 8 Patch 1.
I am trying to do an SQL database application restore. This is to a SQL server in a separate forest, where the Veeam server doesn't have any DNS for the SQL server. The wizard starts ok, and when you try to restore the DB, you get a prompt to authenticate to the server. However, even as a domain admin in the target forest, the password prompt always fails. It gives the impression of password/permissions error. When I looked at the firewall, I didn't see any traffic!
Then I added an entry in the hosts file, so DNS works (confirmed via ping), then it worked immediately.
My thought is - Veeam should handle this better, and give a DNS error, rather than a PW prompt you can't get past. Thoughts?
No ticket submitted, but happy to do so, if that is needed to fix this properly.

Agree, this needs better error handling.

I'll ask QC to test your scenario first, sounds like they should be able to see the issue immediately.

I was not going to mysef, but I did forward the issue to QC and have not heard any follow up questions back from them, so they should be good.

Yes, we have reproduced this behavior and included the corresponding fix to the next major update.
