Veeam support for new Nimble HF series

Post by allenrlacy »

Is the new HPE Nimble HF series certified to work with Veem storage integration? Big improvements they have a faster CPU, and vastly extend the deduplication capability from the CS series. Work in progress, should work, absolutely works, no idea? Thank you in advance!

No idea yet. I guess we need to ask HPE to ship us one for validation!

It runs the same OS than the other series, so it should be OK. Let me please double check with HPE and QA and come back here.

HF is just another disk hardware plattform with same Operating System from them. We just state the OS compatibility in our release notes.

There shouldn't be an issue, as the Nimble OS is still the same from that point of view, just the hardware has been updated. I don't believe there was a re-validation done for veeam when Nimble went from the 00s series to the 000s series devices.

Interesting fact: the american marketing feedback was that they like products in a 000s series naming convention over the 00s series naming convention, hence the change at the point. The current naming convention, well just blame HPE?

The more interesting thing is if the Nimble OS version is compatible as I guess the HF series has a minimum firmware requirement of 3.0 ?
We will try to squeeze it in at our QA team. Smoke test did not detect any issues.

I believe the OS FW is the same on all devices, so if the min is 3.0, we are currently on 5.1, if you support and work with 5.1 on an AF1000 for example, there is no reason as to why it wouldnt work on the new range.
