Does anyone have an idea of when V12 might be available?

Summer 2022 would be my best guess at the moment.
We will have a much better idea when we reach the beta stage.

Hi Anton,

And what about the Beta availability? I heard that it would be soon?

Of course! That's the whole point. Betas are managed by regional Veeam sales teams though (more specifically, system engineers on those teams).

No updates except that we're launching BETA1 next week. As for the GA date, it's like trying to predict how much runaway an incoming flight will need before it stops while it's still at a cruising altitude. Ask me late summer: if V12 is not released by then, I will for sure have a much better idea on how much more time we need.

Potentially. Our private betas are driven by the pre-sales engineers aka SE. So you need to contact your Veeam sales rep and ask if they have any beta spots available in your region. Each engineer usually onboards only a few accounts, as they are responsible for supporting them with any beta-related inquiries and issues.

[MERGED] v12 anytime in the near future?

Post by vmtech123 »

I know in March of 2021 it was said appx a year for v12 release.

Has there been any updates or thoughts about a potential time for the release?

I'd love to get rid of TSM if v12 has a few things that could get us there.

Even a ballpark, within 3 or 6 months, 1 year. 2 years 3 years? lol

I am anxiously awaiting for V12 release. I really need to be able to backup directly to Object Storage without the need to first have to store data to a local repository. Right now I have a SOBR with a 1 day operational window to achieve this goal but I really don't want to use local storage since this is mainly for archival data. An approximate release month would be nice to know, second half of 2022 is not a good approximation :)

Hi Dennis, Hi HRAI

We can't provide an exact release date or month.
Currently we are in BETA2 and the release date depends on how well the beta performs and how many bugs we need to fix.

Thanks

What are the specific releases of Veeam components (VBR, Agents, VSPC, Veeam ONE, etc.) will be backward compatible with V12?

This will only be known close to V12 release based on the final regression testing. Some of the changes may make older components unable to interact/query V12 servers, and compatibility patches may or may not be provided.

Does anyone know if VBR Community Edition V12 will allow to save backups directly to S3 Compatible Object Storage?

No. Object storage support as a backup target always required at least the Enterprise edition and this is not changing with V12.

I recently sat in on the webinar "V12 Sneak Preview for Service Providers" covering V12 and VSPC V7 (see link below to recording and slides). As a service provider, we are really looking forward the combination of the new features in these two releases. I have been waiting for years for the new features in V7 VSPC !!

My original question remains though. When might we see the V12 release and, now, when will VSPC V7 be released?

Might answer my new thread as we're looking to host in Azure, but AWS might be better now with a lot of the linux support for service providers. If we were thinking to redeploy to public cloud, waiting for v12 seems sensible?

Not sure if mentioned, is there any roadmap for freeing Veeam from MS SQL for version 12 or later? Meaning using a type of free database app to avoid the restrictions of SQL Express?

As far as I heard this summer v12 will have the option to run on PostgreSQL.

We're a little over a month away from Winter, so I'm assuming the original development timeline was disrupted in some way. Should we still be expecting V12 by the end of the year?
