We've just come back to Veeam after a little over a year, I've just re-installed Veeam v5 on a VM, and just setup a 500GB volume on our Equallogic SAN as backup space.
I'm just wondering what the best practice is for performance and recovery these days, should we still keep that as LUN and just mount and format it as NTFS?
Or create a separate ESX virtual disk to fill the space and attach that to the Veeam VM?
We used the first option last time. Just wondering about using a virtual disk as I remember ESX being a pain about attached LUN's, we had a issue with another LUN directly attached to a server at one time when we tried to migrate it between ESX hosts.
