Veeam v7 and Dell RD1000
Hi Folks,
I've got a 1TB Dell RD1000 that shows itself as a removable hard disk in Windows. I can't for the life of me work out how to get Veeam v7 to use this drive to store the backups on - if I try and create a new repository, the drive doesn't show and I've not got any Tape drive options either.
Can anyone give me some ideas as to what to do please?
Thanks in advance!

Andy, if the device is available as a local (removable) disk, you should be able to add it as a Windows type repository on "This server" by specifying the path to that disk.

[MERGED] Direct to RD1000
Hi,
Not an issue currently, but something I'd like to ask regarding future installs.
We currently have a client with an LTO, and we had to firstly configure a local hard drive backup to allow de-duplication and white space removal, then have a backup copy job to move the files to the LTO. Fine.
However, if we use an RD1000, as it's seen as a hard drive, are you able to have Veeam backup directly to the RD, AND perform de-duplication and white space removal? We're just trying to make sure we don't need to add more space to the Server for a local backup if it's not required.

Yes, you should be able to run backups directly to this type of storage.

Re: Veeam v7 and Dell RD1000
Hello I need some advice on how setup VEEAMZIP free with RD1000 internal drives.
I have the following hardware I'd like to use for VEEAMZIP to back up 1.5 TB uncompressed:
1 Dell T300 server 8GB ram, 4C (2HT), 1 SAS RAID 5 array approx 300GB, 1 RD1000 internal drive and just converted it to 2012 R2.
1 Dell T430 server 64GB ram, 12C (6HT), 1 SAS RAID 1 array 1.2TB SAS (OS), 1 RAID 1 array 2TB NLSAS, 2012 R2 Hyper-v, 4 server VMs.
I'd like to re-use the T300 as our backup server, will I need to beef up the server or can I manage with what I have?
Or should I have posted this elsewhere?
Thank you!
Larry

Hi Lawrence,
Since it is a Hyper-V related thread, then please use Hyper-V sub-forums. As to your setup, then using T300 should be ok. Don't need to beef it up yet, as job session logs will point out the main bottleneck after you run your first job pass.
Thanks!
