Veeam V7.x and Active Directory 2012

Post by JaquesC »

Hi there,

I was hoping you could please confirm the following for me with regards to integration with AD2012, we are on Veeam V7.xx(cannot remember exact revision)

Please provide me with the following:

Question 1
Are there limitations integrating in to AD2012 with Veeam for authentication etc...? is it fully supported or are there underlying things one needs to be aware of?

Question 2
Is NTLMv2 authentication protocol compatible, and if there are any hardcoded LDAP queries and if so which server are they pointing to?

Thanks guys

Cheers for now
Jaques

Jaques, Veeam B&R itself does not perform authentication, but relies on Active Directory in terms that you can use built-in security groups to limit access of AD accounts within the backup console. There're no limitations in terms of Active Directory version here.

On a side note, if you virtualize your DC someday (of have done it already), be aware not to miss Veeam AD Explorer allowing you to restore easily granular AD data. Veeam AD Explorer will be included in the upcoming v8 release. Thanks.
